National Purple Heart Day is Sunday, August 7th. We will be holding a commemorative ceremony at the Purple Heart Monument in Belvidere at 1:00 p.m. We will have local and state dignitaries, veterans organizations and the local community there to honor the men and women who have served and shed their blood for this country. We will be placing a wreath at the monument as well. Please join us for a short 1 hour ceremony. Bring a lawn chair if you would like.
We received approval that the Empire State Building will be lit up in Purple for the forth year. This is honoring all of our Combat Wounded and KIA veterans. Please help spread the word and look to the east at about 8:00 p.m. for the lighting! You may also see it on the local evening news.
